Managing Remote Hosts for C/C++/Fortran Development

After you have configured a remote development host, you can manage properties
that specify how the IDE uses the host for C/C++/Fortran projects.
To open the Development Host Manager dialog to manage remote host properties:
- Select Tools > Options, and click the C/C++ category.
- Click Build Tools.

Click the Edit button next to the Development Host list to open the Development Host Manager dialog box.
- In the Development Host Manager dialog box, click the host that you want to manage.
You can also manage development host from the Services
window. Select Window > Services to open the window, then
expand the C/C++ Development Hosts node in the Services window.
To change remote development host properties:
- In the Development Host Manager dialog box, click the host that you want to manage.
- Click Properties to open the Host Properties dialog box.
- Select SSH key to authenticate with an encryption key, or select Password to authenticate
by entering a password.
- Change the name displayed in the IDE for the host by
typing in the Name field.
- To change the way project files are shared with the remote host,
select the file synchronization method in the Synchronization list. If the project files
are in a shared folder accessible from the local host and remote host, select File System
Sharing. If sharing the files is not possible, select Smart Secure Copy to copy the files.
The files are copied to your .netbeans directory on the remote host.
To set a host as the default development host:

In the Development Host Manager dialog box, select the host, click Set as Default, then click OK.
This host is used by default for new projects.
To map shared project sources on the local host to a remote host:

host you want to remove, click Remove, then click OK.
