The Add Java Platform wizard enables you to register the Java and JavaFX platforms
and Java ME, MIDP platform-compatible SDKs or
, such as the Java ME SDK, in the NetBeans IDE. Once you register
a platform emulator, you can use
to set that platform
for compilation, execution and debugging.
The Add Java Platform wizard is opened by choosing Tools > Java Platforms and clicking the Add Platform button. It is also called from the New
Project wizard if there is no Java ME platform installed in the IDE.
For an SDK or platform to be installed in the IDE, it must already be
installed on your system.
In the Select Platform Type page, you select the type of platform you want
to install in the IDE:
Java 2 Standard Edition. The Java SE SDK.
JavaFX Platform. The JavaFX SDK.
Java ME CLDC/MIDP Platform Emulators Platform emulators that are compliant
with the Unified Emulator Interface (UEI). The UEI standard is used by many of
mobile device manufacturers to simplify their use with IDEs.
Custom Java Micro Edition Platform Emulator. A platform
emulator that is not compliant with the UEI standard. To install a custom
platform emulator, you will need to specify:
The locations of the platform home
Syntax for preverify, execution, and debugger commands
The location of bootstrap libraries
The location of additional source files and javadoc
Java ME CDC Platform Emulator. Platform emulators for mobile and embedded devices including set top boxes and game consoles.
