The Add Java Platform wizard enables you to register Java and JavaFX platforms as well as Java ME MIDP platform-compatible SDKs or , such as the Java ME SDK, in the NetBeans IDE. Once you register a platform emulator, you can use to set that platform for compilation, execution and debugging.

The Add Java Platform wizard is opened by choosing Tools > Java Platforms and clicking the Add Platform button. It is also activated from the New Project wizard if there is no Java ME platform installed in the IDE.

In the Platforms page, the IDE searches for all emulator platforms installed on your system. All platforms that are compliant with the Unified Emulator Interface ( ) standard are marked with a check.

Emulator platforms that are listed in red cannot be installed for one of the following reasons:

  1. Click the Back button.
  2. Choose Custom Java Micro Edition Platform Emulator.
  3. Supply the information required.
