Opening a Terminal Window for a Development Host

You can open a terminal window in the IDE for a local or remote host. A remote host does not need to be set up in advance for the IDE, but must be running the SSH daemon.

If you are connected to the remote host, then to open a terminal window for the host:

  1. Open the Services window by choosing Window > Services.
  2. In the Services window, expand the C/C++ Development Hosts node.
  3. Right-click the remote host and choose Open Terminal.
  4. Select one of the following:
  5. A new tab opens in the Terminal window with a shell prompt for your account on the remote host

If you are not connected to the remote host, then to open a terminal window for the host:

  1. Open the Terminal window by choosing Window > Output > Terminal.
  2. Click the Create New Remote Terminal button New Remote terminal button in the left margin.
  3. In the SSH Connection dialog box, select a host from the Known Hosts drop-down list, or select Other Host, and enter your user name, host name, and SSH port. Click OK.
  4. If the Authentication Type dialog box opens, pecify the authentication type to use, password or SSH key, and click OK.
  5. Enter your password if prompted.
  6. When you are successfully authenticated to the remote host using your password or ssh key, you are connected to the host and a new tab opens in the Terminal window with a shell prompt for your account on the remote host.
