Working with MIDlets

The following table shows how to work with MIDlets within a project.
Number one
Create a MIDlet
  1. Select a Project and choose File > New File.
  2. Under Categories, choose MIDP. Under File Types, choose the MIDlet template that fits your needs.

Number two
Set MIDlet properties

  1. Select a Project and choose File > "Active project name" Properties.
  2. Expand the Application Descriptor node. Under Application Descriptor, you can add or remove MIDlets from a MIDlet suite, and add or remove push registry entries.
  3. Expand Build >Filtering. You can use this property page to add or remove MIDlets from the JAR file for a project configuration.

Edit the MIDlet

In the Source Editor:

  1. Select a project and expand the project node.
  2. Double-click on a MIDlet node ().
  3. Edit the source code in the Source Editor window.

In the Visual Mobile Designer:

  1. Select a project and expand the project node.
  2. Double-click on a Visual MIDlet node ().
  3. Edit the application in the Visual Mobile Designer:
    • Design the flow of you application in the Flow Editor.
    • Double-click on any screen in the Form Editor to edit the screen in the Screen Designer.
    • Double-click on any action line to edit the action in the Action Editor.

Number three
Run the Project
  1. Choose Run and choose Run Main Project or right-click any project and choose Run Project.
  2. Use the Project properties if you want to deploy the project to another location on your system or to a remote server.
 

Number three
Debug project
  1. Set breakpoints or watches in your code.
  2. Choose Run > Debug Main Project or right-click any project and choose Debug Project. You can also attach a running process to the debugger.
  3. Step through the program execution.
  4. Choose Run > Finish Debugging Session when you are finished debugging.
